- 1Season chicken and cook in butter in a large pot over medium-high heat until browned; remove
- 2Sauté onion, carrots, and celery in same pot for 5 minutes
- 3Add garlic and cook 1 minute
- 4Whisk 2 tbsp flour into the vegetables, then gradually add broth, stirring constantly
- 5Add chicken back, bring to a simmer; cook 20 minutes
- 6Remove chicken, shred, return to pot; stir in heavy cream
- 7Mix remaining 1.5 cups flour, baking powder, pinch of salt, and milk into a sticky dumpling dough
- 8Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto the simmering stew; cover and cook 15 minutes without lifting the lid
